Does anyone know about artifical teeth?

I suffer from a medical condition (my entire life) that causes my body not to be able to produce NEAR enough enamal for my teeth. I am also unabel to take novicaine, as I am severely allergic. I HAVE to be put under all the time. The result is tooth breakage and spending over $32,000 dollars over my 35 years to have my teeth fixed. I cannot afford any more "band-aid" fixes. I want to get all my teeth pulled and get false ones. I have spoken to dentists about this, but they all say that it cannot be done--legal reasons. Now why is it that if I wanted to have a sex change, I could do that, but my teeth pulled? No way!! I think dentistry is a racket. All about money. Does anyone know how I go about finding a dentist who will do this?

Does anyone know about artifical teeth?
Why are you under the impression that getting false teeth will be the end of your problems. Wearing dentures is by no means the end of your woes. Maybe you will not have teeth but so many people cannot wear their dentures once they get them. Then you bones start to deteriorate and you get a collapsed face look. Especially the lower denture is often peoples biggest problem area. The plate has to fight the muscles in the face to even smile, or eat let alone speak. Then you have to learn to eat differently you have to chew your food equally on both sides or one side will pop up. Then when you put food in your mouth the food goes under the dentures and depending on what your eating you will be in pain and have to go to the restroom to rinse off your plate.

I was born with a condition that caused me great dental woes all my life so I know what your talking about when it comes to medical conditions. My teeth began to become so loose and infected that I faced having to have all my teeth pulled and get dentures. I did my research and spoke to many. I spoke to a Prosthodontist Professor at the Pennsylvania University who told me that even though at the time I was 45 that in a short time my bones would deteriorate so badly that I would look in my 60's. That it's the roots that save our bones. I have a great friend who at 32 got her teeth pulled and wears dentures today at 38 she truely looks horrible. Her profile looks like an old woman and her chin nearly meets her nose and this is with her dentures in. She was one of the prettiest woman I ever met but I am sorry to say it is no longer true.

So what did I end up doing? I got implants. I have 8 on top and 6 on the bottom that holds a whole piece bridge that screws onto the implants and cannot be removed except by my Prosthodontist. Which is the kind of Doctor you need if your set on getting your teeth removed. A prosthodontist specialises in replacement of teeth. If you do not have a good dental professional you will be very sorry you made the choice to remove your teeth. Once they are gone they are gone. Even though I got implants and my teeth are beautiful. They are far from as comfortable as my natural teeth were. But they are the next best thing to having natural teeth as they are just as secure. I clean my teeth with floss and a toothbrush like one anyone does.
Reply:I think you need to find a new dentist. Find one that specializes in cosmetic dentistry and let them see what they can recommend for you. You most certainly can get all your teeth pulled if you want to and either get dental implants or false teeth. Sounds like your dentist just wants to keep you coming back. Find a new dentist and get a second opinion.
Reply:I have bad teeth, nothing like what you are describing, but I do not get enough calcium so my teeth are really weak and they tend to crack and slowly chip away...I ask- even PLEADED with my dentist and he will not pull teeth unless they are rotten or infected. I don't want my teeth to have that, but it's the only way I know that they will 'just pull them'. It sucks, I'm paying them whatever they want, in full, but they won't do it. I guess if they pull it while it's still 'all alive' with no infection it could hurt you. I don't know. But I want this tooth business to be done with. Yes, I think it's all about the money-- you get false teeth, there goes a mouthful of money- literally!
Reply:You need a Maxillofacial Surgeon to remove your teeth. They are equipped to deal with your situation. Health insurance company's are more of a racket than dentists. To a dentist you would be a high risk patient for the payoff.
Reply:I agree that you should get a second opinion. Not all dentist are in it for the money. Maybe your DDS feels it is senseless to pull a healthy tooth. I know many people who have had all their teeth taken out for heath reasons. Do your research and know all the facts before going to get your second opinion so that the DDS knows you are making an educated decision.
Reply:well i don't know about the legal part of that if your dentist just doesn't want to be held responsible for that or if it is some kind of law in that state or something, i have never heard of such! But I work for a dentist here in Houston, and we had a patient that was 29 and we pulled her teeth and gave her dentures. but my dentist mentioned all of the effects it would have since she was so young and made her sign a release form to do the surgury. My dentist said that when you get dentures at a young age, it is not good because the dentures will wear away the bone and cause problems getting your dentures to sit in place. 20 years from now, you may not have enough bone left to hold your dentures in place. being that you will only be 55 at that time, that is too young to be having a problem like that. My mother had a health problem simular to you and her teeth would just crumble so by her 28th birthday, she already had dentures, she has the problem keeping them in place and when she talks, they kinda flop around in her mouth. She has to go to the dentist every 5-10 years to get the dentures remade and it usually takes a month or so for them to get completely adjusted to her mouth. Another issue, are you just allergic to Novicaine or are you allergic to anything that a dentist gives you, because there are other ways to numb your mouth like Lidocaine and other. I would call around to other dentists and get some advice before you jump into removing all of your teeth. Maybe consider those perm false teeth that drill into your jaw bone, they are more expensive, but alot better than having dentures!!! Like i said, i am not a dentist, but you should consult with several dentist and explore your options fully before making a final decision. and don't forget to ask the dentists if there are other options for novicaine since you are allergic!!! Good Luck!!
Reply:$32,000 is a lot of money to put out. Find an oral surgeon this is their specialty. People on here say implants are they going to pay the bill for you? First are you a candidate for implants, they can also fail. The dentists wants you back you are a money maker for them. Why a legal problem? not trying to pry,,

Did they tell you the reason for a legal problem?

When the tooth or teeth break or abscess it will have to be pulled anyway, so what is the difference?

My husband has been wearing dentures for 47 yrs and never had a problem uppper and lower. he is now 63./ He looks as young today as the day I married him, everyone says to him you never change. Geez ,no matter what we do we are going to get older looking can't stay the 21 look forever. We get crows feet too, dry skin, lines in the forehead, but with adjustments and relines it can all be fixed.

Go find an Oral Surgeon not an everyday dentist
Reply:At times the patient is equally responsible for the condition or situation he/she is in, particularly when it is not possible to address the whole treatment scenario. Getting the treatment done in piece meals ends one up in such a situation, particularly when insurance is sought to play greater role. Seek your options abroad with companies like Dental Care India Tour.
