What age were you when you got your 1st False Teeth.?
I haven%26#039;t got any false teeth. Well, actually I have half a false front tooth. In my younger, more immature years, I was running along a little intoxicated. Stumbled and smacked my tooth on the bottle of alcohol I was drinking and chipped half a tooth off.
So technically, my answer is I was 16.

Were you ever tempted to play with your grandparents false teeth when they left them in the glass overnight?
No, but I did pinch them once when I was six, and hid them under my pillow. I thought I%26#039;d make a mint from the tooth fairy. The way I saw it, if you got 50p for one tooth (which I used to) a whole set must be worth at least a tenner. £10%26#039;s alot of money when you%26#039;re that young.

How stable is a lower partial with 2 molar false teeth?
Will I feel it bouncing when I eat?
How stable is a lower partial with 2 molar false teeth?
If there are no other molars at the back of the denture (a free-end saddle), then yes, it will bounce.
I don%26#039;t make them for patients for this very reason. Nobody will wear them for long, they%26#039;ll just end up in the bottom drawer.

I have yellow and badly decayed teeth.. Is there anyway to make it perfect again without using false teeth?
do to see your dentist, they will be able to put you through to the right people. just make sure you brush your teeth twice aday and uses some anti plac remover.

you can have them capped. expensive but they will look and feel just like your own. Excuse me, look better than your own.
Reply:nope.
I probably will have the same problem as you in the future, except for my teeth are yellow.
You can%26#039;t regenerate decaying bone.
Your only real option is to actually go with false teeth.
But, if you want white teeth - try out the white strips stuff they sell in stores.
Wish I could tell you different, but, I can%26#039;t.
Reply:Maybe not perfect, but you may want to start with a visit to your dentist.
Reply:Without costing you about as much as a new porche or Corvette or more. Basically if you want to shell out a house or expensive car to fix your teeth, then maybe they can fix them, but remember, it isn%26#039;t guaranteed to last also. So you might get them fixed and then two years later after spending $50,000 to fix them, you still might need dentures.

Does anyone know where I can Find cheap false teeth like maybe a morgue or something under $20.?
People sell dentures on eBay for about $20 plus or minus. Of course, they would be suitable only for use as a gag gift or something like that. Technically, eBay does not allow the sale of dentures, so you run the risk of bidding on something and having the auction cancelled before it is over. If there is a Buy-It-Now, you might want to go for that to avoid this problem. Just search using %26quot;denture%26quot; and you%26#039;ll find a few.

Reply:Nope. The only place that will make you false teeth which are dentures, is the dental office. You would need to have missing or really bad teeth in order for them to do it. However, you could always get your teeth extracted and get full/upper dentures, its your choice. They will run you about 1,400 each.

What is it like to have all your teeth romoved and have complete false teeth? Some are beautiful. Expensive?
Depends on how your teeth are now. Do you have several teeth that can be saved? Do you have teeth that are all rotten and need to be extracted? If you have a mouth full of rotten teeth, and can%26#039;t save any of them, then of course dentures would be something to consider. Health wise it is awful to have all of that infection going on in your body, and lets face it rotten teeth look bad and make you smell bad. However if you only have a few teeth that need pulling and the rest could be saved then I would def. consider that option. Save as many as you can, and financially can afford too. Then instead of having no teeth and a denture which sometimes does not fit so well, you can have some of your real teeth and a partial which fits better. Once you remove all of your teeth the bone starts to disintegrate and you end up with a sunken face, and loss of good chewing ability. Yes dentures are the only option for many people, but ask most people with complete dentures if they had it to do over again and they could save some of their natural teeth they say they would save what they could. Dentures can be ill-fitting,hard to adjust too, decreases your sense of taste, rub sores on sensitive gum tissue, sometimes cause a gag reflex in people, and just don%26#039;t function as well as natural teeth. You will have to have them relined over the years, and the cheaper ones have a high incidence of breaking or cracking and sometimes can%26#039;t be repaired without getting a whole new denture. Yes they can be very nice looking, but what about function? People have better luck with upper dentures then with lower. There is more to hold an upper denture in, the palate of the mouth is comp. covered by an upper denture, the suction helps keep it in place. A lower denture is another matter. As I said before you lose bone when your teeth are extracted, on the lower all you have left after all of your teeth are removed is a small bony ridge, this is not much to hold a lower denture in place. Many people have trouble with a lower denture slipping when eating and talking which of course can be quite embarrassing. Ever seen Americas Funniest Videos when they have the people who have had their dentures slip out? Not fun. At least save some of your lower teeth if you can, and then you can have a partial made to hook onto the teeth you have left. If you can%26#039;t save too many teeth, then save the lower ones, and have a full upper denture. If you can save some on the upper and lower, then this is even better. You may even look into dental implants if you have the money and bone support. I promise you save what you can, you will be better off in the long run, not only looking good because you still have some teeth and bone support left to give your face some structure, but quality of life as well by being able to eat your food properly and being able to speak well. Good luck.

Rough at first, but they never give you toothache again.
Reply:It is painful at first, but in the end it%26#039;s worth it. Especially if you have really bad teeth. Most dentist won%26#039;t give you false teeth until you%26#039;ve had all yours pulled and a few months of healing-which means NO TEETH FOR A WHILE. This can pose a problem for people who work around a lot of other people or in communications and other such jobs. Some dentists will have your dentures ready when you have your teeth pulled-long process but way worth it! Cost really depends on your insurance. Most insurance companies bill pulling teeth and dentures separately, and only cover up to 50% which can still leave you with a hefty bill, depending on where you go. If you are covered under Medical Assistance, I think your cost of the dentures is $1 for the top dentures and $1 for the bottom dentures, and $1 for each visit to have teeth pulled. If you have no insurance, out of pocket expense can be well above $3000, but not less than $1800 for the dentures and separate billing for each tooth pulled. You should get to pick how white you want your dentures-even the whitest white isn%26#039;t super white and looks really natural. I hope this has helped!

Since dental work is so costly is considering false teeth a good option?
The best answer I have ever seen is on the website I posted below. I have implants upper and lower that hold a whole piece bridge unit and even though my smile is pretty and the teeth stable there is nothing like the feel of ones own natural teeth. With implants I also get more sinus pain when I have a cold.
Truth is dental issues are expensive. As for eating in restaurants with dentures you can. But many have to result in gluing them in with things like fixodent because dentures especially the lowers do not like to stay seated.
Since dental work is so costly is considering false teeth a good option?
yes and no. No because if you can keep your own teeth that%26#039;s more than worth the money, sometimes people can%26#039;t afford root canals and crowns so they opt to pull the tooth, a false tooth or bridge is never the same as your own tooth so if you can save a tooth it%26#039;s worth it. On the other hand, if it%26#039;s a bad tooth and a root canal won%26#039;t work, I would recommend the false tooth or bridge to fill in the space, they cost alot too. In all honesty, either way root canal/crown or bridge/false teeth, they all are expensive.
The best thing to do is get regular cleanings and make sure if you have a cavity you get it fixed immediately to save your teeth and the cost of expensive repairs later.
Reply:Find out all you can about false teeth. For example:
If you have lower dentures, your mandibular bone will receed and your face will appear sunken and old. Your lower denture will have to be re-done periodically because it won%26#039;t fit for long. You can%26#039;t eat in a restaurant with friends, for one thing.
The gums below your dentures will likely develop sores and give you pain. You will give up some of the foods you enjoy because you simply cannot chew properly.
Your speech will be affected. If dentures are improperly fitted, loose dentures will result in %26quot;fuzzy%26quot; speech patterns, making you sound like that old man on Family Guy.
Your breath might smell bad. Forget dating.
Does it sound so costly now? A few dollars to avoid a lifetime of embarrassment and discomfort?
Reply:as the dental profession nothing could replace your own teeth. with denture ,partial or other prosthetic you will not be happy.if you could preserve any of the with the mean of rootcanel, crown, filing, implant you should with all mean do it,even though its $ do one teeth at a time ,you will not regret this. their is a dental credit card you could apply for its called Care credit its a no interest c/c for 6-12 month and offers good option to pay back. its available in Los angeles CA try your area.
Reply:believe me, its not as simple as that. alot of people think that if they dont have their teeth looked after they can just get false teeth, but there is alot going on in your mouth. oral health affects everyday health so just letting teeth go could do alot of damage to you. you would have to let your teeth rot and fall out which is giving yourself periodontal disease and false teeth still need maintenance to keep then looking good and clean and fitting properly and your gums still need to be looked after. I dont suggest it...take care of your own teeth.
Reply:It really depends on your current situation. If you have more teeth than not any dentist will try to save what you have. I broke my jaw when i was 13 and i have lost almost all of my top teeth. I have some dental implants, but mostly for cosmetic reasons. I am at the same cross road that you are at. It really comes down to you. I HATE the look of dentures, I am currently Turing to save enough money for dental implants, which is also another alternative. The cheapest place for dental work is in Grove Oklahoma. I have heard that a complete set is under $300. You could also look into that. I hope this helps you.
Reply:Only in rare circumstances would I advise someone to extract their teeth and have dentures made. Its nearly impossible to replace teeth, gum tissue, and bone with plastic and acylic. Yet that is what we try to do when we make dentures. For some people who have very poor oral hygiene and teeth that are constantly hurting, this may be the only option. It is also important to understand how dentures work. They stay in place due to suction. It is next to impossible to get suction on the lower denture due to the tongue. I would suggest to try to save as many teeth as possible. Although the dentistry is expensive, it is far better to save teeth than extact and replace with dentures.

Where can I find information on which denture (false teeth) is the best?
I am currently shopping around for dentures and want to get the very best and natural looking. Anyone know where there is any consumer information on this?
Where can I find information on which denture (false teeth) is the best?
No. There are any number of materials that are %26quot;the best%26quot; for one reason or another, but there is no %26quot;brand%26quot; of dentures that can be considered the very best and most natural looking. Every denture made is a total custom creation (or at least it should be) and it%26#039;s the team of the dentist and the dental lab technician who create the denture. You could use the exact same brands, shades and molds of teeth and come up with hundreds of different looks with the same exact materials. You can%26#039;t buy a %26quot;brand%26quot; of denture off the shelf.
If anyone post an answer saying anything different, I will be the first to admit that I have just learned something.
Reply:I have heard that Geneva dentures are supposed to be really good. you can find info on them if you do a web search.

What is your best story about loosing your false teeth?
I was eating a cob of corn, and out came my teeth for everybody to see. Not!
What is your best story about loosing your false teeth?
Not so much about loosing my teeth as one of finding my grand daughter.
My wife and I were watching my five year old grand daughter, Amanda, for the weekend. One morning I found her in my bathroom staring at my teeth. When I asked her what she was looking at, she just shook her head and commented %26quot;the tooth fairy is never going to believe this!%26quot; I laughed so hard I woke up my wife.

I would not be sure she knows she does or if she is aware, there has to be a reason for it. At least it%26#039;s not as bad as the coworker I have that has a friend with a fake eye that puts his eye in a glass when he is out and drinking then. He does it for shock value he says, but I think that can make someone either stop drinking altogether or to have more to forget that.
Reply:That is creepy... I think old ladies being drunk is creepy too.

What is the best way clean your false teeth at end of the day?
A denture brush. The denture soaks are a very poor second. Use the brush over a sink with water in it so they won%26#039;t break if you drop them.
Take them out at night %26amp; put them in water. Once or twice a week, put a capful of lemon extract in the water - gets rid of the stale taste %26amp; keeps them cleaner. Works for retainers too.
Rinse %26#039;em before you put them in next morning or you%26#039;ll be puckered all day! lol

You should use the brush after soaking in a denture solution to get rid of all the germs. Adding chlorine bleach to the soak sometimes will help get rid of stains. Report It

Reply:I use the disposable kind. They aren%26#039;t worth cleaning and reusing. But when I had regular dentures, I used hydrogen peroxide and Listerine mixed together.
Reply:put them in some water with a little of bake soda
Reply:My dad brushes them with regular old Arm and Hammer Baking Soda everyday and soaks them overnight in regular peroxide once a week, seems to work just fine.

How much does a full set of false teeth (dentures) cost?
Canada - $2,200. - much, much cheaper in Mexico.
Reply:i dunno
Reply:San Francisco is about $2000 to $3000. Even cheaper inThailand. Plan a vacation around having dental work done. Lots of Mexican border towns specialize in dental work for Americans
Reply:varies from about 300.00 to 2000.00 just depends on what you%26#039;re willing to spend.
Reply:I work in 2 different offices in Mississippi. One office charges 1,350.00, the other 1,600.00.
Reply:When shopping for dentures- shop for the dentist who has the most experience doing them, not the cost of the appliances. The actual dentures are only part of the whole treatment.
In all honesty, cheap dentures are the last thing you want. You also need to get the treatment plan in writing outlining what all is covered for how much money and what the %26quot;extras%26quot; cost.
Ask if relines and adjustments are covered? Ask whether the dentures they supply you with will be replaced in 6-12 months with a better fitting set or will they just reline the ones you get initially?

What is the best way to clean false teeth?
Whatever works for you. It is my opinion that there is no one brand of cleaner that we can recommend over another. It all depends on your saliva and what you eat and how they interact. One product might be great for you and terrible for someone else. Experiment. If you do choose to use tablets or powder, don%26#039;t leave the dentures in the solution for much longer than it takes to turn clear or the teeth AND gums will start to get lighter in color. Dump out your denture cup and rinse off the dentures and then place them in plain water.
I tell my patients to pretend they are dishes and get them as clean as they would want them to be. Don%26#039;t use very hot water, though. The secret is that you have to do it OFTEN, with once a day as the minimum.

Lyrics to old song "she put her false teeth in a jar and her peg leg over there"?
old song my mom used to sing about how a woman was going to bed and putting her parts in different places.
Lyrics to old song %26quot;she put her false teeth in a jar and her peg leg over there%26quot;?
Its actually an old scout song called after the ball was over. Not really a song that was recorded - just a silly song everyone sang.
Here are the full lyrics:
After the ball was over, after the break of morn,
After the dancers%26#039; leaving, after the stars are gone;
Many a heart is aching, if you could read them all;
Many the hopes that have vanished, after the ball.
After the ball was over, she took out her glass eye,
Put her false teeth in the water, hung up her wig to dry;
Placed her false arm on the table, laid her false leg on the chair;
After the party was over, she was only half there!
Reply:Something like:
After the ball was over, she took out her glass eye
Put her false teeth in the water
Hung her peg leg up to dry
Nothing was left of her at all . . . after the ball

Can anybody please tell me what year false teeth as we know them were invented?
the modern kind that look natural,as opposed to wooden ones which i am told have been around for centuries! reason i ask is on %26quot;have i got news for you%26quot; last night it said that walt disney had some wooden ones! + i wondered why a guy who that rich would have them! as it was only in the 1950,s surely they had dentures before then? i could be wrong!
Can anybody please tell me what year false teeth as we know them were invented?
The first porcelain dentures were made around 1770 by Alexis Duchâteau. In 1791 the first British patent was granted to Nicholas Dubois De Chemant, previously assistant to Duchateau, for De Chemant%26#039;s Specification, %26quot;a composition for the purpose of making of artificial teeth either single double or in rows or in complete sets and also springs for fastening or affixing the same in a more easy and effectual manner than any hitherto discovered which said teeth may be made of any shade or colour, which they will retain for any length of time and will consequently more prefectly resemble the natural teeth.%26quot; He began selling his wares in 1792 with most of his porcelain paste supplied by Wedgwood. Single teeth in porcelain were made since 1808. Later dentures were made of vulcanite and then, in the 20th century, acrylic resin and other plastics. In Britain in 1968 79% of those aged 65-74 had no natural teeth, by 1998 this proportion had fallen to 36%.

Reply:Good and accurate information above, but...
The natural looking acrylic denture bases that we take for granted today were not introduced until the 1930%26#039;s. Prior to that, the %26quot;best%26quot; we had were made of pink vulcanized rubber. This discolored greatly and did not adhere to the denture teeth, so it easily developed dark stain lines between the denture base and the teeth.
Acrylic denture teeth came along somewhat later, but I do not know the exact date. I%26#039;d guess that it was in the late 1930%26#039;s or early 1940%26#039;s. These teeth were not all that great, so dentists still used porcelain teeth on acrylic denture bases for the %26quot;premium%26quot; dentures.
The most popular high quality denture teeth in use today are a composite resin material (from a few different manufacturers) that was introduced for denture teeth in the 1980%26#039;s, believe it or not.
From that perspective, I would say that %26quot;modern%26quot; dentures were not made until the introduction of processed denture resin for the base material in the 1930%26#039;s.
I%26#039;d bet Walt Disney had vulcanized rubber base dentures. They did indeed look horrible after a couple of years in the mouth, but I%26#039;d be surprised if he had wooden teeth.

What is the best way to whiten false teeth?
You can%26#039;t. False teeth are made of a material that is resistant to bleaching. They are made with a preset shade.
What is the best way to whiten false teeth?
You can%26#039;t change the color of the actual teeth, but bleaching overnight in a mild solution of bleach water can remove some of the worst stains that OTC denture cleansers cannot. Mix 1 part bleach to 4 parts water. Soak overnight. Report It
Reply:you would have to get them re-made. Dentures don%26#039;t have the structure of tooth enamel and so wouldn%26#039;t lighten with conventional tooth lightening products.
This doesn%26#039;t mean you would have to go through all of those try-in stages again though!!
Reply:sorry, that is not an option. Unless you want them redone complitly you can not whiten them.
Reply:First off are they stained with coffee or tea? Or is it just the color you don%26#039;t like? If they are stained you might be able to soak them in peroxide to remove the stains. If it%26#039;s the color your stuck with it as artificial teeth color cannot be changed.
How I do I know this? I was told this when I got my new teeth for my implants.

I had veneer work done about 18 years ago. It was good while it lasted, but it will wear away after about 8 - 10 years.

He needs to go back and see the oral surgeon who removed the teeth. After this time, he shouldn%26#039;t be in that much pain.
Reply:yOU NEED AN EXRAY. get to the emergency room or a clinic and sit there till u get seen. Like Sea mar in Wa. state. but any emergency room will refer you to where you can be seen. This is infection, also I%26#039;ve heard osteoperosis can cause severe pain in gums. But more likely its not healing because its infected and pennicillin 500 3 or 4 times a day will be prescribed, to take care of it. This could become systemic.
Reply:If he is diabetic, he need to control it first. Just use denture adhesive powder before wearing denture. it will reduce some pain. Powder and gels are also available in the counter.

Reply:Hi,that is wrong your husband should go back to the dentist or see his doctor.Hope he his soon feeling better.Good Luck

I am worried that i may need false teeth because i have reseeding of the gums .can anyone help?
The dentist can bond them. It%26#039;s easy, just like a filling, but is bonded to the top part of your tooth, where the gums recede.
I am worried that i may need false teeth because i have reseeding of the gums .can anyone help?
My brother had this problem and had to have surgury.Hes fine now and still has all his teeth.Try using a softer tooth brush and see your dentist. Try looking at this site its might be helpful http://www.wisegeek.com/what-can-i-do-ab...
Reply:This condition is usually cause by excessive smoking.
Try to smoke less.
Brush with a softer, newer tooth brush.
The dentist can in fact do one of two things;
1) build up the teeth with filling material to bond with the original teeth right up to where the gums are now.
That is a temporary fix if you are not going to change your life style.
2) There is an operation where they actually add on to the gums with tissue from other parts of the mouth.
A very expensive procedure, but works for a much longer time.
Reply:The best way to take care of this problem is to see a periodontist ASAP. I did this several years ago and, after a few minor surgeries (in the office) and much discomfort, my teeth were saved. It was worth everything. You should start by brushing (or at least rinsing) after each meal and brush your teeth at least twice a day. If you don%26#039;t take care of your gums, the bones that hold your teeth (under the gums) will rot which will cause the teeth to loosen and eventually fall out. Believe me, I%26#039;ve been there.
Reply:receding gums can signal a gum infection is developing. consult a dental expert immediately to help protect the gums from gum disease. tooth loss happens when you do not pay attention to good oral hygiene. keeping the mouth hydrated by drinking adequate amount of water can help keep bad bacteria at bay. use an all natural oral care product to safely wash food particles away and can help teeth and gums and the whole mouth become clean and healthy. visit http://www.themouthdoctor.com for more tips on how to take good care of the gums.

Can u use crest white strips on false teeth?
no, whitening product only work on natural teeth. If you have a removable denture you can have your dentist clean in it in the ultra sonic cleaner. If that doesn%26#039;t work than you will need to have a new denture made, If you have a crown or bridge or something like that the only way to whiten it is to have a new one made.
Can u use crest white strips on false teeth?
No they do not work on dentures. If they are yellow you need to ask your dentist if he can whiten them for you. Most likely the stains are permanent as this is not real enamel.
Reply:False teeth needing whiting? If I had false teeth that were yellow,
I%26#039;d just buy new ones as regular dental products don%26#039;t have ingredients that work with plastic or porcelain dentures.
Reply:This may sound strange but it works. My mother had false
teeth, and every night she would take them out and keep
them in a glass in the bathroom. When she wanted to clean
them she would put them in javex for a short time, and what
clean and white teeth she had. It really keeps them clean
and you don%26#039;t have to spend much money on them.
Reply:No. Dentures, crowns, or veneers will not bleach.

Why do so many young women have false teeth?
I%26#039;m constantly meeting women in their 20s and early 30s who are wearing a full set of dentures.
Why do so many young women have false teeth?
because health care isnt easy to get for everyone and children arent always able to see a dentist. once woman are older and the decay has gotten worse it is harder and more exspensive to fix their teeth
Reply:Well, the main reason anyone wears a full set of dentyures is because they have no natural teeth left in their mouths.
Reply:wow ! where do you live? I%26#039;ve never met any round here ...
I%26#039;d stay away from the local dentist if I was you! Sounds like he%26#039;s been a bit tooo busy
Reply:This reason is quite obvious. Lack of good consistent, %26quot;Dental Care%26quot;. Not to mention, there may be a huge possibility that their past recreational activities, have finally caught up with them, (narcotics). I can%26#039;t imagine any other reason than, what you have stated.20s %26amp; 30s are the times when most women are in their uncertain stages of life... Answer this? What are you doing that you are only attracting women, who don%26#039;t have good hygene practices? Or perhaps, they are not insured, to get the required assistance for proper dental care?
Also, you may want to reevaluate, what, when, where, %26amp; who you are seeking out, for a future interest? One dosen%26#039;t continuously seek out substance abusers, after expirencing what it%26#039;s like with the previous one. You may need to reevaluate the types of women, who don%26#039;t have the adequate, (choppers) you required. If you should have this unfortunate outcome in the future? Than perhaps you can refer them to an economically friendly Dental Institution, such as th University of Washington Dental School. They also provide, implants....
Reply:Pregnant women can have alot of trouble with their teeth.
Reply:First of all. dental insurance is a big joke, it barely covers anything, most of the cost is out of pocket. Second, some have no dental insurace and are barely paying their own living expenses. Third there is fear from previous experiences. If they are wearing dentures atleast they are not walking around toothless. Calcium is depleted from the body during pregnancy for the baby. Certain childhood medications can ruin the teeth. It is not always because of the lack of dental care.
Why should dentures matter? It is the person who counts.
Who knows for some reason you may be wearing them yourself someday, for one reason or another. Not everyone has strong teeth, even though we would love to.
Reply:Remember with teeth %26#039;Prevention is better than cure%26#039;.
Dont leave visiting the dentist until you%26#039;re in pain..regular check-ups and good oral hygiene can prevent decay.

Have you ever seen someone's wig, false teeth, fake fingernails, etc. fall off or out?
Yes, was driving down the road one day %26amp; the wind blew a lady%26#039;s wig off who was walking down the sidewalk.
And a girl I was talking to at work one day sneezed and her false teeth flew out of her mouth.

Who was the first President to wear false teeth?
Has this ever been documented?
Who was the first President to wear false teeth?
George Washington was not so lucky. He was inaugurated as president in 1789 with one tooth in his mouth, a lower left bicuspid. The Father of His Country had sets of false teeth that were made of everything but wood, from elephant ivory and walrus tusk to the teeth of a fellow human.
Reply:George Washington. His false teeth were made from sheep teeth.

I am constantly dreaming about my teeth fallling out or losing my false teeth?
I always dream about my teeth falling out too - don%26#039;t have a clue why though!
I am constantly dreaming about my teeth fallling out or losing my false teeth?
this is a problem with false teeth, they tend to fall out!!
Reply:I read somewhere once it means you are scared of getting old.
Reply:Loosing teeth means loss of energy in your daily life, exhaustion, etc. It may show problems with family members (roots). Such dream indicates that you must take better care of yourself, eat healthy, exercise, and make life changes that would make you happy.
Reply:I too have had this dream many times. Very strange isn%26#039;t it!
I come to find that Maybe it means, that you feel like your losing something, something that your very attached to.
Reply:if you keep them clean and take care of them you should not have to worry about them falling out..
Reply:Popularly teeth are supposed to stand for aggressive sexuality - although more properly they signify the growth process towards sexual maturity. Teeth falling out easily indicates we are aware of going through some transition, similar to that from childhood to maturity or from maturity to old age and helplessness. If there is anxiety about teeth falling out it suggests fear of getting old and undesirable or anxiety about maturity. If a woman swallows teeth it signifies pregnancy.
Reply:i lost my false teeth once told the wife not to laugh and she couldn%26#039;t stop we Finally found them under her pillow( NOT FUNNY AT THE TIME )funny now
Reply:i read in a book of dreams somewhere that dreaming about loosing ur teeth, meant problems in your life stress and anxiety, even money problems anything related to not being able to cope with worries of everyday life. dont know how they know this ?
Reply:i had that a few times, thought it was a bit strange! glad am not the only one!...

For those of you with false teeth - have you ever used them as pastry cutters?
Or to decorate around the edge of an apple pie or anything?
For those of you with false teeth - have you ever used them as pastry cutters?
That%26#039;s unique and perhaps its one of those things its better not to know. I can imagine a pie with a series of flaps around the edge. Each flap could have its own smiley face. If you soak the teeth in cleanser first it should be OK. When you offer biscuits to your friends, see if they admire the shape!

Who carved George Washington's false teeth?
Dess77 is on target but Dr John Greenwood was not the only Dentist who fashioned false teeth for Washington. And yes carving was how it was done, carved from ivory, from a hippo, and some accounts suggest a few sets were made of ivory and real teeth - - - -
Also credit a James Gardette for making a set that was very uncomfortable...
http://www.americanrevolution.org/dental...
%26quot;%26quot;%26quot;%26quot;Toothaches followed by extraction would be a yearly occurrence for Washington. There were frequent episodes of infected and abscessed teeth, inflamed gums, and finally ill-fitting dentures. One can imagine that his reputed %26quot;hair-trigger temper%26quot; might have been the result of a constant battle with pain. He was continually corresponding with noted dentists of the day asking for a file to repair a denture, a scraper to clean his teeth or pincers to fasten wires on his teeth. He inquired about a dentist of %26quot;whose skill much has been said.%26quot; He requested material to make a model of his teeth so a dentist could make new dentures.
When George Washington was inaugurated for his first term as president in 1789, he had only one natural tooth remaining and was wearing his first full set of dentures made by John Greenwood. Previously he had had partial dentures which were held in place by hooking them around the remaining teeth. The Greenwood dentures had a base of hippopotamus ivory carved to fit the gums. The upper denture had ivory teeth and the lower plate consisted of eight human teeth fastened by gold pivots that screwed into the base. The set was secured in his mouth by spiral springs.
Washington%26#039;s next set of dentures was made in 1791 and a third in 1795, for which he paid sixty dollars. James Gardette made a large and very clumsy set for him in 1796. Apparently Washington was not pleased with these dentures and may have ordered another set from Greenwood in 1797. Washington often returned dentures for adjustments and repairs, at one time complaining that %26quot;they were forcing his lips out.%26quot; His final set was made in 1798, the year before he died. This set has a swagged gold plate with individual backing for each tooth which was fastened by rivets. The lower denture of this set, along with others, are on display in the Dr. Samuel D. Harris National Museum of Dentistry in Baltimore.
Written descriptions of Washington%26#039;s physical appearance note facial and vocal changes over the years. Portraits by leading painters of the day also record facial changes. Some of the alterations in his appearance may have been due to his dentures. For example, the springs, securing his dentures could have pushed his teeth forward, causing the cheeks to look puffy.
In Charles Wilson Peale%26#039;s first portrait of Washington in 1757, the mouth is noted to be quite small. Washington was twenty-five at that time and certainly still had some of his natural teeth. The painting done in 1776 by the same artist shows a scar on the left cheek from a fistula caused by an abscessed tooth. Here the face is long and oval. There is a story that Peale made a set of dentures for Washington when he was sitting for one of his portraits, because Peale felt that the set he was wearing was causing him too %26quot;%26quot;%26quot;

Washington’s %26quot;Not-So-Wooden%26quot; Teeth
Each year, when Dr. Joel visits area schools in February to commemorate National Children’s Dental Health Month, he tells the story of George Washington’s teeth, long thought to have been carved out of wood. It’s amazing how this legend has survived. Here’s the true story:
President Washington lost his teeth at a relatively early age. He suffered from poor dental health throughout his younger years. He had two sets of false teeth (dentures) made by the most prominent American dentist of his day, Dr. John Greenwood. They were carved from the finest hippopotamus ivory and gold. One of the sets was donated to the University of Maryland Dental School in Baltimore, the oldest dental college in the world. The dental school in turn loaned one of the dentures to the Smithsonian in 1976 for a bicentennial exhibit. The denture was stolen from a storage area of the Smithsonian (presumably for its gold content) and has never been recovered.

What do you think of false teeth or dentures...say in kissing...eating...etc.?
hahahahaha what a funny question..well im going to answer this one.when eating of course its difficult to chew hard ones or you might end up..chipping your teeth..lol
as to kissing.its the lips and the tongue does the thingcoz if its the lips you%26#039;ll end up to be pushed.lollol lol

Reply:When grandma kisses me I hope they don%26#039;t pop out as then the kiss turns sloppy
Reply:I think it must be very hard to do. That is why I am going to look after my teeth very well. Kissing would be really difficult and, you have to take your teet out to wash them. It would also be a big pain getting them fitted at the dentist. I am really scared of the dentis is another reason why I wuld hate it. My gradparents have dentures and they say they don%26#039;t like them very much. It would feel very weird to sleep with no teeth wouldn%26#039;t it?
Reply:I think they are very useful to those who use them. However, they are not useful at all to on-lookers. Let me explain.
A denture wearer is french kissing another denture wearer when all of a sudden, the dentures fall out--slime strings attached. Onlookers begin projectile vomiting.
A denture wearer is slaughtering a double-stacked hamburger when all of a sudden, his dentures come out--slime strings and liquefied hamburger, hamburger buns and green stuff ooze out and slowly drop to the floor. Onlookers begin projectile vomiting (with a vengeance).
A denture wearer is minding his own business when all of a sudden, he sneezes hard. His dentures fly out, slime strings and snot and other gelatinous debris slap the face of an onlooker. Other onlookers vomit on the innocent onlooker and projectile vomiting ensues.
Point taken? People need dentures, let me just say that. Maybe someday I%26#039;ll need dentures too. But for the innocent onlooker, dentures are no fun at all.
Reply:They are horrible. Trust me, I know!! Kissing is embarrassing and eating is extrememly uncomfortable, and after wearing them for any length of time I actually get %26quot;toothache%26quot;. So it%26#039;s of paramount importance to look after your teeth and keep them as long as possible.
Reply:My brother is a dentist; I said to him once, dentures must be like hell. He said, They%26#039;re worse than hell. That%26#039;s for the wearer. Food lodges into the mouth, and gum disease is easier to contract.
For the person who kisses the one with the dentures, it%26#039;s okay, just so long as the denture-wearer keeps up his or her oral hygiene. You wouldn%26#039;t want denture breath.
Above all else, don%26#039;t feel ashamed if you have dentures.
Reply:False teeth or dentures are better than no teeth at all or than having a mouthful of decaying teeth. Some things happen through no fault of the person who has to have dentures or false teeth, (accident, medical condition, whatever); and though it is preferable to have your own teeth, I would rather have someone wear the proper device to be able to eat and to look better than the alternative.

the crowns i have i%26#039;ve had for quite some time now - going on 20 years for some. i DID loose one but it%26#039;s becuase i didn%26#039;t take care of the tooth underneath and out it popped! that%26#039;s one of the implants now!!
Reply:I buy dental-strength, 35% carbamide peroxide gel on Amazon.com, which is MUCH cheaper than getting it from the dentist. I use that to bleach my teeth every six months--that%26#039;s not false teeth per se, but definitely %26#039;fake%26#039; nonetheless. I also have two composite fillings on my back teeth, and composite veneers on all of my front top teeth.
When you get a composite veneer, they put a layer of tooth-colored filling on top of the tooth to hide stains, correct chips or poorly shaped teeth, and the like. After the filling%26#039;s placed, it%26#039;s shaped and polished and to make it look shiny and toothy.
This procedure is also called bonding, but it veneering is more accurate in my case, since it was done to whole teeth, rather than a small part. Using composite for whole veneers is less common and heard of, so I figured an explanation was in due. :) It%26#039;s a shame, because it%26#039;s very cost-effective.
I%26#039;ve heard that composite stains easily and doesn%26#039;t last as long as metal, but I prefer it because it looks natural and tooth-colored. I%26#039;ve kept my teeth well brushed and whatnot, and my fillings have lasted me for six years without staining or discoloration, my veneers two.

How do a couple with false teeth manage to enjoy snogging?
Is there a horrible clacking noise. Or do they ever come adrift.
How do a couple with false teeth manage to enjoy snogging?
I have had them since 16. No one knows unless someone tells them. My wife has them. There is no way to tell when kissing. If anyone has a problem, maybe they need to see a good denturist. Most dentists don%26#039;t have clue about fitting dentures.
By the way, if you brush your mouth and dentures once a day with regular toothpaste, there is no tell tale smell or taste. It is better than some repaired teeth, caps, bridges, etc.
Reply:it%26#039;s a matter of advanced tongue work

Is there anything that whitens false teeth? They are old.?
There is no way to %26quot;whiten%26quot; denture teeth beyond what they were new. If they%26#039;re stained, take them to a dentist who makes dentures and he can easily polish back to their original shade. Then use something like Polident every night.
Now, if you like the fit of your dentures, but want whiter than the original tooth shade, just have the teeth replaced with a lighter shade. Most premium teeth used in dentures come in various shades.
Your dentist will have a shade guide with all the different shades available. Replacing just the front teeth requires a bit of laboratory work, but a dentist with an in-house lab could do it while you wait and you won%26#039;t have to go without your teeth.
If you want ALL the teeth changed, or the dentures are more than five years old, then have the dentist/lab make a duplicate set of dentures using the new whiter teeth. Then you%26#039;d have a new set of dentures with the shade that you want and have the same fit as your old denture.

Can you use bleach on false teeth to make them whiter?
Bleaching is only for real teeth. The bleach will only bleach enamel. The same thing goes for white filling. Bleach will not affect the color of composite.
Can you use bleach on false teeth to make them whiter?
According to my dental hygenist, you cannot make them whiter.
Reply:no. it will only turn them yellow. the stores have special cleaners for false teeth.
Reply:yes but when you are done with the bleach then wash them off with water
Reply:No, bleach only affects dental enamel. I suggest bleaching first, Then your dental professional can match any (false teeth) to your now bleached teeth.

How should you kiss with false teeth?
I got uppers a year ago and I%26#039;m recently dating again. I%26#039;m scared to jump in.
How should you kiss with false teeth?
Kiss as usual, but easy on the suction.
Reply:As long as you got them in good, you should be able to kiss with them as you would real teeth. My props go to you on doing something so important like fixing your teeth. I hate talking to people with bad teeth. Having them fixed will help your dating life.
Reply:Having a full set my self I%26#039;ve just done the usual. You%26#039;ll get use to them.
