My Son's Orange Teeth...?

My 10 year old has problems with his teeth turning orange from plaque. He brushes 3 times a day, flosses twice a day, and uses mouth wash last thing at night. He doesn't eat sweets and practically zero pop. He actually prefers fruits and vegetables over anything. He's had 6 cavities in his short life already. The dentist says that some people just have more problems concerning plaque and cavities than others. There's got to be something else we can do or someone else we can see. If this contiuies he'll have to have false teeth by 20 years old. Someone please help me help my son.

My Son's Orange Teeth...?
Sounds very strange. Certain medications do change tooth color. Like the others mentioned, many people have weak teeth that are easily susceptible to caries. Is he using a power/electric toothbrush? That may help remove more plaque. Also, you should probably take him in for dental cleanings more often, every 4 months or so.
Reply:Does he see a dentist? Are his teeth bad or just stained?

If is only stain he might be drinking something that gives the teeth that color. The dentist can tell you what to do but there are products now like Crest White Strips to help with that but please do see a dentist.

Reply:Are you watching your son while he does all this or do you have to make him do it? Because he might be lying to you. If his teeth are orange, then he isn't brushing and flossing as much as you say. Or if he is then he probably isn't doing it properly. If it's just that he's more prone to it, then i guess he'll have to start doing it a lot more often.
Reply:Have them caped or have him use different toothpaste. I hate to say this but dentures aren't as bad as they sound. Just think if he gets them then he won't ever need a trip to the dentist ever again. Plus his teeth will never hurt too.
Reply:He has a high carries risk, meaning it's genetic. Also, because he brushes, doesn't mean he removes all the plaque. Plaque that doesn't get removed turns to calculus, which is hard and can only be removed via explorer at the dentist. Just make sure he goes biannually for his prophy.
Reply:I had my teeth capped when I was ten and never had cavaties. I would seek a second opinoin from a dentist. Also, how much does he prefer fruit? What fruit is it that he eats the most? Some fruits are so high in sugar and they are natural so they are easily eaten by plaque. Hope that makes sense. Do some research on your sons favorite foods. Oh and does he drink alot of water? Does he drink enough milk (good calcium means stronger bones, ie. teeth) and other calcium high foods? Thats all I have got and I hope it helped.
Reply:Did the dentist put sealants on his teeth? A lot of antibiotics can turn teeth yellow. I know it is not recommended for kids to have their teeth whiten - my daughter asked about this as she has discolored teeth.
Reply:Take your son to a trusted dentist who my advice best for your child's teeth problem. May be there are some complications in him that affect his teeth. Or perhaps your son keeps on eating sweets when you're not on the look. Regarding my kids problem on teeth especially discoloration, I only use and trust OraMD. It really works in maintaining our oral health.
