When you look at my teeth when i smile they look totally normal but the ones in the back are awful.?

i was told by two dentists that i have soft teeth and even brushing or flossing won't keep me from getting cavaties. I have already had two teeth extracted and i am only 20 years old. They just keep on getting worse and i don't know what to do. I am scared of getting false teeth because i am so young and think it will be embarrasing. What should i do and what are my options?

Brushing and flossing is the only way to prevent decay so don't stop!. Basically decay is caused by bacteria so if you can remove that (and anything that makes them grow like a bad diet) then you would be alright.

Get any decay fixed now because decay progresses and will weaken your tooth further. While you're at it ask your new dentist what you can use to make your teeth stronger (fluoride mouth rinses, stronger toothpaste etc)

If your teeth are soft though(like from malformed enamel) they can be brittle and break alot. You could look into getting crowns placed on them so they will be alot stronger. Depends on how good the tooth under it is though. The other option is to get them out and have implants there if you don't want dentures.

Implants are quite costly but basically they are a titanium screw placed in your jawbone with a crown on top so they look like regular teeth. You can get them done while you are asleep.
Reply:You should try getting sealants at the dentist. It's a clear thing they paint on your teeth to help keep the teeth healthy.
Reply:it sould be your genes that your teeth are not strong enough. yo really don't have much of a choice but keep going to a good dentist and have them fixed as needed. Still, you may be in a need of dentures later in life. Please, don't let it go, don't get discouraged and take care of them. There are lot of topical fluoride solutions that you can use to strenghten what you have now. just ask your dentist or pharmacist.
